AIG Must Cover Bluetooth Headset Maker In Hearing-Loss Row

Law360, New York (June 3, 2014, 2:33 PM EDT) -- A California federal magistrate judge said Friday that two AIG affiliates must cover Bluetooth headset maker Plantronics Inc. in class litigation alleging its products cause hearing loss, finding there is no evidence warranting the reversal of another judge’s decision on the matter.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul S. Grewal rejected the insurers’ challenge to another judge's 2008 decision that the damages sought in the class actions — which allege that Plantronics' headsets can cause noise-induced hearing loss, that the packaging lacks adequate warnings about such hearing loss and that the products were defectively designed and unfairly marketed — fall under the policies...
