Samsung Wins US Block Of Huawei’s China Patent Injunction

Law360 (April 13, 2018, 10:33 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge Friday blocked Chinese smartphone maker Huawei from enforcing an injunction it won in China ordering Samsung to stop making or selling devices that infringe two patents, finding that the injunction could render simultaneous U.S. proceedings meaningless.

U.S. District Judge William H. Orrick said that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., headquartered in South Korea, is entitled to the antisuit injunction preventing Huawei Technologies Co. from enforcing the Shenzhen Intellectual Property Court’s orders in the case over patents found to be essential to industry standards...
