Amazon Fails To Get Tying Class Action Dismissed

Law360, New York (August 28, 2009, 6:14 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has rejected Amazon.com Inc.’s bid to toss a proposed antitrust class action alleging the online retailer improperly tied the use of its Internet site to the printing services of one of its units.

Judge John A. Woodcock Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine on Wednesday found that print-on-demand book publisher Booklocker.com had raised a right to relief “above the speculative level” that Amazon’s alleged tie of its online bookstore services with the printing services of its subsidiary BookSurge...
