CTIA Unveils Internet Of Things Cybersecurity Certification

Law360 (August 22, 2018, 12:29 PM EDT) -- Wireless industry trade association CTIA announced the creation Tuesday of a new certification program to sign off on the cybersecurity in cellular-connected devices that are part of the so-called internet of things. 

CTIA described the cybersecurity certification program as “the first of its kind” to be created alongside national wireless providers. Coming as government regulators in the U.S. and abroad consider the implications of connected devices from cars to medical technology, wearables and more, the program is meant to help protect the emerging IoT space by certifying such technology “built from the ground up with cybersecurity in mind,” CTIA said.
