Law360, New York (February 2, 2017, 5:44 PM EST) -- Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, led a trio of Republican lawmakers on Wednesday in urging the Trump administration to take steps to protect government whistleblowers in order to encourage transparency in governance, saying guidance is needed particularly in light of reports of "gag" orders at several federal agencies.
Grassley, who heads the Senate Judiciary Committee, joined with Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, and Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., to send a letter to White House general counsel Don McGahn to reinforce to federal employees the importance of whistleblower protections to curtail fraudulent and wasteful practices.
