Law360 (April 12, 2018, 1:54 PM EDT) -- On March 22, 2018, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted a conditional certification of the Fair Labor Standards Act collective action claims in Julian v. Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.[1] The plaintiffs allege that Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, or MetLife, misclassified them and other similarly situated long term disability claim specialists (LTD claims specialists) as exempt from overtime.
