FAA Whistleblower Sparks Probe Of Noncompliant Planes

Law360 (June 13, 2018, 7:02 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Office of Special Counsel revealed Wednesday that in response to a whistleblower report, the Federal Aviation Administration is checking the records of more than 11,000 aircraft that may be out of compliance with safety rules or improperly registered.

In a release, the office said it had received a whistleblower report in 2017 that the agency was allowing planes to fly with invalid regulatory waivers or expired registrations, causing the FAA to begin taking steps last year to recheck aircraft records and issue clearer instructions...
