Post-Gazette Seeks To Stop Injunction Blocking Layoffs

Law360 (December 2, 2019, 3:36 PM EST) -- The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will appeal a Pennsylvania federal judge’s decision to halt delivery drivers’ layoffs unless the court reverses course and puts the decision on pause, the newspaper’s publisher said Monday.

PG Publishing Co. said its rights to implement its proposals after bargaining to an impasse had been violated by U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan’s Nov. 27 injunction, which blocked the paper from laying off or cutting health benefits for delivery and circulation workers while their union goes through a grievance and arbitration process, the brief accompanying Monday’s motion said.
