Pret A Manger Gets Green Light To Settle Trainee OT Suit

By Ben James (February 29, 2012, 7:35 PM EST) -- A judge in Manhattan preliminarily approved a $299,000 settlement Wednesday in a class action accusing Pret A Manger (USA) Ltd. of misclassifying workers who participated in Pret's manager-in-training program as exempt from state and federal overtime pay requirements.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Jones signed an order granting conditional class and collective action certification to a class of current and ex-workers who have participated in the training program for the soup, salad and sandwich shops in New York since Aug. 16, 2005, or in Washington or Illinois since Aug. 16, 2008.
