Houston Chef Says Restaurant's Noncompete Unenforceable

Law360, Houston (May 23, 2017, 3:49 PM EDT) -- A former executive chef at an upscale Houston seafood restaurant has filed a suit accusing his ex-employer of not letting him out of an unenforceable noncompete agreement after turning the venue into a Tex-Mex eatery.

The petition by chef Omar Jose Pereney against Ceviche Trainera LLC and Trainera Enterprises says that Pereney took the job as executive chef at Peska Seafood Culture in 2013, and in late 2016, owner Maite Ysita decided to change the restaurant's fare to attract a wider customer base.
