High Court Won't Review Cravath Shell Docs Decision

Law360 (January 7, 2019, 3:06 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear an appeal from a Nigerian activist's widow who asked the court to review the Second Circuit's decision barring her from obtaining Royal Dutch Shell PLC documents held by Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP for her suit against the energy giant in the Netherlands.

Esther Kiobel, who has accused Shell of complicity in human rights abuses in Nigeria, including the murder of her husband, said the Second Circuit erred in July when it overturned a New York federal district's decision to grant her document request.

The court denied the petition without further comment....
