Anadarko Oil Field Workers Land Class Cert. In OT Row

Law360 (October 16, 2020, 6:50 PM EDT) -- A Texas judge conditionally certified a class of manual laborers contracted to work for Anadarko Petroleum Corp., allowing claims that they were misclassified and shorted overtime pay to proceed.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrew Edison said the "well-pled" argument from plaintiff Joel Field met the bar for certification because the class members, although different in their job titles, all alleged they were classified as independent contractors and paid flat day rates despite constantly working overtime, in violation of federal law.
