Mining Org Asks High Court To Hear Uranium Ban Challenge

Law360 (March 12, 2018, 6:03 PM EDT) -- A mining group on Friday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review the Ninth Circuit’s decision upholding the U.S. Department of the Interior’s moratorium on uranium mining on more than 1 million acres around Grand Canyon National Park. 

The Interior Department’s 2012 decision to withdraw the land from new uranium mining claims for 20 years  came amid concerns about the environmental consequences of such mining.
