Sens. Accuse DOI Of Delaying, Politicizing Federal Grants

Law360 (June 12, 2018, 8:55 PM EDT) -- A group of 12 mostly Democratic senators on Tuesday accused the U.S. Department of the Interior of dragging its feet on issuing federal grants and questioned whether it was politicizing the process for reviewing them.

The lawmakers sent Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke a letter expressing concern about the agency’s “ongoing delays and lack of transparency” when it comes to reviewing and issuing federal grants and cooperative agreements, writing that newly instituted bureaucratic procedures “appear to be driving the lack of efficiency.”
