Mass. Town Asks 1st Circ. To Block Enbridge Pipeline Project

By Aaron Leibowitz (December 12, 2018, 6:01 PM EST) -- The small Massachusetts town of Weymouth asked the First Circuit in an appeal brief Wednesday to help it protect its natural resources and deny a bid by a division of Canadian energy provider Enbridge Inc. to build a natural gas compressor station there for the Atlantic Bridge pipeline expansion project.

Weymouth argued that the federal district court in Boston, which sided with Enbridge subsidiary Algonquin Gas Transmission LLC in December, should have dismissed the case because a 60-day Massachusetts limit to appeal a rejection by Weymouth's conservation commission had expired.
