Fla. State Judge Accused Of Grabbing Court Staffer By Neck

Law360 (July 18, 2019, 6:05 PM EDT) -- Florida's Judicial Qualifications Commission recommended suspending a Fort Lauderdale judge on Thursday for allegedly grabbing a court employee and shaking him.

The JQC, which polices the conduct of judges around the state, said Judge Vegina T. "Gina" Hawkins should be suspended without pay while her disciplinary case over the June 11 incident is pending.

Beyond the physical altercation itself, the JQC also said Judge Hawkins had at first downplayed the situation and said it was in jest and she had not really touched the employee, despite the existence of security camera footage.
