Miami Doc Gets 9 Years For $30M Medicare Fraud Ring

Law360, Washington (April 18, 2016, 7:41 PM EDT) -- A Miami doctor was sentenced Monday to nine years in federal prison for his role in a scheme bilking the Medicare system out of around $30 million in phony reimbursements, the latest of five individuals sentenced in the South Florida fraud ring, according to the Department of Justice.

Henry Lora, 51, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Federico A. Moreno, who also ordered the physician to pay $30.3 million in restitution, according to a statement from the DOJ.
