E-Reader Co. Protests $16M Contract Aimed At Amazon Kindle

By Amanda Bransford (July 26, 2012, 5:55 PM EDT) -- K-NFB Reading Technology Inc. on Thursday protested in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims a solicitation for a $16.5 million government contract that said only Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle e-reader would meet its needs, not giving K-NFB a chance to bid.

The complaint argues that if the State Department had done appropriate market research, it would have discovered that K-NFB has the ability to meet all the requirements of the government's solicitation with its Blio, including providing e-reading devices other than the Kindle capable of displaying the e-reading content required, and K-NFB would have had a good chance of receiving the contract....
