Law360 (January 27, 2020, 10:32 PM EST) -- A unit of the electronic health records giant Allscripts Healthcare Solutions Inc. engaged in an "abhorrent" scheme to help an opioid company push the dangerous drugs on patients who may not have needed them, according court filings by the U.S. Department of Justice on Monday.
The filings in Vermont federal court detailed alleged violations of anti-kickback and health privacy laws by Practice Fusion Inc., which Allscripts acquired in February 2018. The filings also laid out the details of a deal Allscripts announced last year aimed at resolving the allegations.
