Abbott Labs Fights Amended ERISA Claims Over Stolen $245K

Law360 (November 23, 2020, 9:54 PM EST) -- Abbott Laboratories argued Friday that a former employee's amended claims still aren't enough to hold it liable for allegedly allowing an identity thief to steal $245,000 from her retirement account and urged an Illinois federal judge to permanently toss her claims.

Abbott and a fiduciary for its stock retirement plan told U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin that former employee Heide Bartnett failed in her second attempt to pursue Employee Retirement Income Security Act claims against them over an identity thief's January 2019 strike on her account.
