Immigrant Detainees Want To Preserve Minimum Wage Suit

Law360 (May 21, 2019, 5:47 PM EDT) -- Current and former detainees who participated in a work program at a Washington state immigration detention facility run by The GEO Group Inc. urged a federal judge to preserve their class action claiming the for-profit prison giant illegally paid them $1 or less per day to maintain the facility.

In a Monday brief, the class asked the court not to dismiss or stay its suit, which requests lost wages for the class members, in light of another lawsuit brought by Washington state that similarly challenges the company's labor practices at the GEO-operated Northwest Detention Center.
