Immigration Group Alleges FBI, Other Agencies Violated FOIA

Law360, New York (November 2, 2016, 3:53 PM EDT) -- A nonprofit organization that seeks reforms to the nation’s immigration policies has sued the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other federal agencies for allegedly failing to tell the group in a timely fashion whether they will provide the information it sought through Freedom of Information Act requests.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform alleges that the FBI, the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the federal Office of Justice Programs have failed to timely respond to the organization’s FOIA requests that they release a range of data related to arrest figures and incarceration rates dating back as far as 1955 for immigrants...
