After Plagiarism Claims, Wis. Sheriff Won't Take DHS Post

Law360, New York (June 19, 2017, 6:25 PM EDT) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump known for his inflammatory comments on Twitter, is no longer being considered for a role within the Department of Homeland Security, an agency spokesperson confirmed Monday.

Previously slated to serve as the deputy secretary of the Office of Public Engagement starting this month, the fourth-term sheriff rescinded his acceptance of the position late Friday and will remain in his position as county sheriff for the immediate future, his spokesperson, Craig Peterson, told Law360 Monday....
