Great American Owes Coverage After Hotel Scam, Suit Says

Law360 (February 13, 2020, 9:53 PM EST) -- The operator of the Millennium Hilton New York on Thursday hit Great American Insurance Co. with a breach of contract suit accusing it of wrongfully withholding coverage on a $1.9 million claim stemming from a booking scam, according to a complaint filed in Ohio federal court.

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels PLC said in the suit that an employee at the UN Plaza-based hotel created sham travel agencies that falsely reported they had garnered hotel bookings, all so he could illegally collect commissions on those fake bookings. Millennium "has not and cannot recover these funds," it said.
