LA District's $13M Suit Says Insurers Concealed Arson Facts

Law360, New York (February 1, 2013, 2:33 PM EST) -- The Los Angeles Unified School District hit a collection of insurers with a suit in California state court on Thursday seeking $13 million related to a 2007 arson and accusing the insurers of engaging in a cover-up of the subsequent investigation.

According to the district, following a 2007 fire that gutted the auditorium of Garfield High School, a group of insurers, which included Lexington Insurance Co. and Lloyd’s of London, hid from the district for four years an appraiser’s report recommending the complete demolition and reconstruction...
