New Balance 'Made In USA' Suit Halted Pending Settlement

Law360 (March 13, 2018, 6:07 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday halted a proposed class action alleging New Balance Athletics Inc. falsely labels its shoes as “Made in the USA,” after the parties said they had reached a settlement that will be filed in early April.

U.S. District Judge M. James Lorenz stayed the proceedings after the proposed class of consumers and the shoe company said in a joint filing Friday that they had reached an agreement following negotiations that began in February. The parties didn’t provide specifics about the settlement, and counsel didn’t respond Tuesday to requests for details.
