LGBTQ Advocates Among Biden's National Security Picks
Law360 (April 26, 2021, 8:04 PM EDT) -- President Joe Biden on Friday tapped former U.S. Army Capt. Brenda Sue Fulton and retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Shawn Skelly, both advocates for the LGBTQ community, for positions at the U.S. Department of Defense, along with several other national security nominations.
Biden intends to nominate Fulton to serve as assistant secretary for Manpower and Reserve Affairs and Skelly to serve as assistant secretary for Readiness at the Department of Defense, according to a White House press release. Both women are longtime advocates for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.
