Many of us can vividly recall Ross Perot’s crusade against the agreement, which began during the 1992 presidential campaign and continued into the first year of the Clinton administration as Congress considered it.

Perot’s battle culminated in his debate with Vice President Al Gore before a television audience of 16 million. NAFTA was narrowly approved by the House of Representatives one week later.
