Microsoft Joins Patent-Licensing Initiative LOT Network

Law360 (October 4, 2018, 5:40 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. has joined LOT Network, a patent-licensing initiative aimed at curbing lawsuits by so-called patent trolls, the group announced Thursday, a high-profile addition for a network that has grown rapidly since launching four years ago.

Companies that join LOT pledge to give other members a free license to any of their patents that are acquired by a patent-assertion entity. Microsoft joins nearly 300 companies that are already part of the initiative.
