Apple Scores PTAB Win In Phone Camera IP Fight

By Adam Lidgett (December 7, 2021, 6:16 PM EST) -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has wiped out two dozen claims in a Samsung unit's cellphone optical lens system patent challenged by Apple, finding they were obvious over prior art.

A three-judge panel of the PTAB on Monday found that all challenged claims in the inter partes review of the Corephotonics Ltd. patent were not actually patentable.

The panel said that the challenged claims were obvious in light of various pieces of prior art, including a patent referred to as Ogino Example 5 and a technical article called Bareau.
