Hendrix Estate Goes After Brother For Purple Haze Liquor

By Bonnie Eslinger (March 1, 2016, 10:50 PM EST) -- Nearly 50 years after Jimi Hendrix released the psychedelic single proclaiming "'scuse me while I kiss the sky," his estate slapped his brother and a California company with a suit in Georgia court Tuesday, claiming their Purple Haze Liqueur infringed on the rocker's trademark.

The suit, filed in federal court by Experience Hendrix LLC, seeks untold damages and injunctive relief against Leon Hendrix and Los Angeles-based Tiger Paw Distributors, calling the marketing behind their product "tasteless," particularly in light of the fact that "drugs and alcohol have been connected to Jimi Hendrix's untimely death."
