AO Smith, Peerless, Burnham Hit With $60M Asbestos Verdict

Law360 (April 17, 2018, 2:42 PM EDT) -- A New York state jury has awarded $60 million to the family of a worker who died from mesothelioma after he was exposed to boilers that contained asbestos manufactured by A.O. Smith Corp., Burnham LLC and Peerless Industries Inc.

After a nine-week trial, the jury on Friday found all three companies were reckless and liable for Pietro Macaluso’s personal injury claim related to his exposure to the carcinogen, as well as his two children’s wrongful death claim.
