Copyright Ruling May Encourage Willful Infringement

Shoshanna Collection LLC,[1] is good news to companies that willfully infringe copyrights. The plaintiff in that case was FameFlynet, a photojournalism company based in California that licenses candid photos and videos of celebrities to gossipy media outlets. The defendants, the Shoshanna Collection and Shoshanna Group Inc., are two fashion companies founded by Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss, who, according to Wikipedia, gained early celebrity status in New York as a high school student when she, purportedly, was dating the then 38-year-old Jerry Seinfeld.[2]...
