FCC's Infrastructure Orders Spur Dialogue, Stakeholders Say

Law360, Los Angeles (September 13, 2018, 11:47 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission's recent moves to speed up infrastructure rollout for 5G and interactions in its related cross-industry task force have generated some heated moments that nonetheless resulted in valuable compromises, telecom leaders said Thursday.

At a panel event during the Mobile World Congress Americas in Los Angeles, representatives from local government and major wireless carriers agreed that the FCC’s Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee and its orders to preempt local infrastructure rules may have struck a nerve, but also helped the often-at-odds sectors find common interests.
