DOJ Says Its New Wire Act Opinion Doesn't Apply To Lotteries

Law360 (April 9, 2019, 5:53 PM EDT) -- New Hampshire's lottery commission can't sue over a recent U.S. Department of Justice opinion that critics say effectively outlaws nonsports online gambling, the DOJ has told a federal court, because that opinion doesn't apply to lotteries.

The DOJ made the argument in a reply brief Monday concerning two cases in which the New Hampshire Lottery Commission and lottery vendor NeoPollard Interactive LLC are challenging the controversial 2018 opinion in New Hampshire federal court.
