HBO Slams Jackson Estate's Push For 'Neverland' Arbitration

Law360 (May 3, 2019, 6:18 PM EDT) -- HBO on Thursday tore into a bid from Michael Jackson’s estate to arbitrate breach of contract claims against the network stemming from its “Leaving Neverland” documentary, calling the estate’s undertaking “as poorly conceived as the claims themselves.”

The late singer’s estate is claiming HBO broke an agreement permitting it to use footage from Jackson’s Dangerous World Tour in exchange for monetary and non-monetary considerations, including a promise from HBO not to “disparage” the singer. Last month, Jackson’s estate asked a judge to order HBO to arbitrate its claims.
