Superman Creator's Estate Gave Up Rights, DC Comics Says
Law360, Los Angeles (February 7, 2013, 10:57 PM EST) -- Time Warner Inc.'s DC Comics on Thursday asked for summary judgment in a suit brought by the heirs of Superman co-creator Jerome Siegel, saying the Ninth Circuit had found that Siegel’s estate representatives gave up the disputed Superman and Superboy copyrights as part of an earlier settlement.
The motion comes less than a month after the Ninth Circuit unanimously ruled that Laura Siegel Larson and her now-deceased mother Joanne Siegel had transferred the rights to Superman and Superboy to DC in a 2001 settlement agreement.
