NY Hospital Must Face Suit Over Student’s Brain Damage

Law360, New York (June 16, 2017, 4:36 PM EDT) -- A Bronx hospital was denied a quick dismissal Thursday of a lawsuit from a teen who suffered brain damage from a heart attack and alleges nurses and medical staff failed to properly respond to early signs of a blood clot, a known side effect of a contraceptive she was prescribed.

The New York Appellate Division’s First Department ruled 3-2 to uphold a Bronx court’s finding that Montefiore Medical Center has to face claims from Sarah Adams and her family over brain damage stemming from cardiac arrest....
