Deals Rumor Mill: Google, AIA Group, SIX Group

By Benjamin Horney (September 20, 2017, 5:16 PM EDT) -- Google is on the verge of picking up assets from struggling smartphone maker HTC Corp., according to a Wednesday report from Bloomberg. The report said Google's motivation for a deal is to bolster its own ability to produce smartphones and other devices. Reports in late August said that HTC was considering an outright sale of the entire business, or the separation of its virtual reality business, among other options. HTC's value has dropped about 75 percent over the last five years, currently sitting at around $1.8 billion, according to reports....
