Monmouth U Not Liable For Martina McBride Concert Injuries
Law360 (May 7, 2019, 5:44 PM EDT) -- Monmouth University cannot be held responsible for injuries allegedly sustained by a woman who attended a concert of country music star Martina McBride at a school facility, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled Tuesday, finding the college was shielded from such liability under the state's Charitable Immunity Act.
In upholding a state appellate ruling that affirmed the dismissal of Frances Green's suit against the university, the justices concluded the school was entitled to immunity because the December 2012 event furthered the college's educational goals and Green was a beneficiary of the concert, where she fell while ascending a set of stairs....
