Paula Deen, Promoter End Tour Battle Just Before Trial

Law360, New York (September 10, 2012, 1:26 PM EDT) -- Celebrity chef Paula Deen and an event promoter settled a contract suit over a canceled nationwide tour on the eve of their Monday trial, with a New York federal judge charging each side $1,000 for wasting court resources.

On the day of their trial, Deen and Celebrity Chefs Tour LLC tried to buy more time to work out a settlement over CCT's alleged breach of a tour promotion agreement, but U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein denied the request in court on Monday, telling the sides to either settle or begin jury selection immediately.
