NY Olive Oil Mislabeling Class Wins Cert. Bid

Law360, New York (December 11, 2013, 7:25 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge granted class certification on Wednesday in litigation accusing Kangadis Food Inc. of misleading consumers by passing off olive oil adulterated with a different, industrially processed olive-based product as "100 percent pure."

U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff gave the nod to a class certification bid from plaintiffs Joseph Ebin and Yeruchum Jenkins, approving both as class representatives. He did not explain his reasoning in granting the motion, but said a related memorandum would follow in due course.
