American Home Targets LPS Over Surrogate Signing

Law360, New York (August 23, 2011, 7:57 PM EDT) -- American Home Mortgage Servicing Inc. on Tuesday accused Lender Processing Services Inc. of improperly signing mortgage documents and then breaching a contract by refusing to indemnify the mortgage servicer for the costs it incurred from the actions.

Employees of LPS and its DOCX LLC unit who were not authorized by American Home Mortgage to approve assignments of mortgage did so by using authorized employees' signatures and then had the signatures witnessed and notarized, according to the complaint filed in Texas court.
