Lenovo Cuts $7.3M Deal To Settle Adware Class Action

Law360 (July 12, 2018, 6:44 PM EDT) -- Lenovo Inc. has agreed to pay a certified class of nationwide consumers $7.3 million to resolve allegations it preinstalled software on laptops that caused performance, privacy and security issues, according to court documents filed in California federal court Wednesday.

The consumers asked a judge to preliminarily approve the deal, under which approximately 500,000 class members will receive an estimated $40 or recover up to $750 in costs associated with a pre-installed computer program called VisualDiscovery.
