Tepco Faces $67B Suit Over Fukushima Meltdown

Law360, New York (March 5, 2012, 5:09 PM EST) -- A group of shareholders in Tokyo Electric Power Co. are reportedly demanding more than $67 billion in damages over losses from last year's Fukushima nuclear disaster, lodging a suit Monday against current and former executives in Tokyo District Court.

The 5.5 trillion yen ($67.5 billion) suit from 42 shareholders targets the 27 people who held senior executive positions at Tepco since 2002, saying they had failed to heed warnings and take proper safety steps to protect the plant from potential natural disasters, reports by the Kyodo...
