Indian Affairs Vet To Lead Biden-Harris DOI Transition Team

Law360 (November 10, 2020, 8:52 PM EST) -- President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris announced Tuesday that they have chosen former assistant secretary for Indian Affairs and Chickasaw citizen Kevin Washburn to take charge of the team reviewing the U.S. Department of the Interior for the incoming administration.

Washburn, a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, is currently the dean of the University of Iowa College of Law, and he served as the DOI's assistant secretary for Indian Affairs from 2012 to 2016. He also previously served as a U.S. Department of Justice prosecutor, as well as the general counsel of the National Indian Gaming Commission....
