DHS Head Asks Successor To Bolster Cyberattack Defenses

Law360, New York (August 27, 2013, 7:18 PM EDT) -- Departing Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Tuesday urged her still-unnamed successor to prioritize improving mechanisms for identifying and sharing information about cyberattacks, warning that a large-scale intrusion is inevitable.

In wide-ranging remarks at the National Press Club, Napolitano reflected on her four-year tenure as secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, saying the department had become more “flexible, agile and adaptable” through its handling of national security threats, terrorist attacks, natural disasters and other events.
