NY DOL Finalizes Wage Deduction Rules For Employers

Law360, New York (October 10, 2013, 3:59 PM EDT) -- The New York Department of Labor issued final regulations on Wednesday that govern how businesses can implement recent amendments to state labor law that expand an employer's ability to make voluntary deductions from employee wages.

The regulations, which became effective on Wednesday with their publication in the State Register, establish the rules for employers under legislation signed into law in September 2012 that updated the New York Labor Law. The new rules broadened the scope of permissible deductions from consenting employees' wages.
