FCC Frees Up $1B To Aid Broadcasters Reassign TV Channels

Law360, New York (October 17, 2017, 7:21 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission announced Monday that it is doling out $1 billion to reimburse eligible full-power and Class A broadcasters and multichannel video programming distributors for initial costs incurred in building station facilities on reassigned channels.

In a public notice, the agency’s Incentive Auction Task Force and Media Bureau said commercial stations and MVPDs will have access to 52 percent of their estimated costs, and that noncommercial educational broadcasters will have access to 62 percent of their estimated costs, taken out of the initial $1...
