NY Court Affirms Asbestos Verdict, But Nixes $13M Award

Law360 (August 7, 2020, 6:44 PM EDT) -- A New York appeals court has vacated $13 million in awards in a suit alleging that products made by Felt Products Manufacturing caused a woman to develop mesothelioma, but affirmed the jury's verdict that the company's products were at fault.

In a decision filed Thursday, the split court said the award to William E. Robaey, husband of the deceased Marlena Robaey, deviated from what would be "reasonable compensation" for the claims. The award consisted of $12 million for past pain and suffering and $1 million for past loss of consortium.
